Where space moves and perception shifts: Segue in The Marnix Gallery

Carla Arocha & Stéphane Schraenen - Segue | The Marnix Gallery, ING Belgium | until 30 October 2026

Brussels - The artist duo Carla Arocha & Stéphane Schraenen are bringing a new exhibition to The Marnix Gallery. In dialogue with the architecture of the space, they blur the boundaries between interior and exterior. Through windows, reflections and overlapping patterns they create a visual game centred on movement and perception, inviting visitors to experience the space in a different way.

The work of Carla Arocha & Stéphane Schraenen emerges in direct relation to its environment and takes on a different appearance each time. In Segue, this approach is fully extended: The Marnix Gallery itself becomes part of the work and plays an active role in how visitors experience the installation.

“We do not simply produce one work after another; rather, we respond to what is already present: forms, structures, architecture, imperfections,” say Carla Arocha & Stéphane Schraenen.
"With Segue, we show how art is not just presented in a space but actively gives form to that space. The interaction between work, architecture and visitor is central, making each experience different and continuously evolving," says Kathleen Weyts, curator of the exhibition.

Segue can be seen until 30 October 2026 in The Marnix Gallery, which is usually open from Monday to Friday, from 9 am to 5 pm.

ING Belgium will announce future exhibitions in The Marnix Gallery at a later date.

About The Marnix Gallery

The Marnix Gallery is a brand-new space in our headquarters on Avenue Marnix, where art comes to life. Located on the ground floor and freely accessible to anyone entering the building, ING hosts temporary exhibitions in collaboration with artists and in dialogue with the building’s architecture.

With this space, the bank reaffirms its decades-long commitment to art and creativity, as well as its ambition to make culture accessible to a wider audience.

The Marnix Gallery embodies ING Belgium’s vision of an open and welcoming art space: a place where people come together to experience art, reflect, relax and exchange ideas. This vision is captured in the concept “Open Space, Open Mind”, which summarizes ING Belgium’s artistic philosophy.
