ING Belgium’s Board of Directors today announced that Rik Vandenberghe has tendered his resignation as CEO and member of the Board of Directors of ING Belgium. He will remain CEO of ING Belgium until February 28th.

Rik Vandenberghe started his career with Bank Brussels Lambert in 1984 and occupied various functions in Belgium and abroad until his appointment in May 2013 as CEO of ING Belgium. “After more than 30 years at ING, I have decided to take on a new position outside the financial sector. I am reassured to be leaving ING in very capable hands. ING has never depended just on individuals, but on the strength of teamwork. A team well-equipped to rise to future challenges.” said Rik Vandenberghe.

Eric Boyer de la Giroday, Chairman of the Board of Directors of ING Belgium added: “On behalf of the Board of Directors, I would like to thank Rik for his important contribution to ING Belgium over the past decades and wish him well for the future. I regret but respect Rik’s decision to leave ING and know that we shall miss his experience and broad knowledge of the industry”.

The successor of Rik Vandenberghe as CEO of ING Belgium will be announced in due course (subject to regulatory approvals).
