Jean Hilgers reinforces ING Belgium’s Board of Directors

Brussels – The shareholder of ING Belgium has appointed Jean Hilgers as an independent, non-executive director as of April 22nd, 2024. His mandate runs until 2030.

Jean Hilgers plays a prominent role in finance, banking, insurance and academia, both in Belgium and in Europe. Hilgers is a former Executive Director at the National Bank of Belgium, Senior Consultant at Deloitte and a director at Cofinimmo and AG Insurance, among others. He was a member of the Board of Supervisors of EIOPA, the European insurance and pensions supervisory body, and of the Basle Committee on Banking Supervision. He also served on the executive committee of IAIS, the International Association of Insurance Supervisors. His insights and knowledge are also highly valued in university circles. For instance, he is Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Université Catholique de Louvain, the largest French-speaking university in our country and one of the oldest universities in Western Europe.
