ING Belgium announces new nominations in its Executive Committee

Brussels - ING Belgium has made several nominations to the bank’s Executive Committee effective as of 1 April 2025. With this renewed team, ING aspires to continue on its growth trajectory across all client segments. The Executive Committee continues to be steered by Peter Adams, CEO of ING Belgium.

Last year, ING initiated ‘Together for Progress’, a new strategic chapter that supports ING’s growth ambitions. At the heart of this strategy, is the bank’s ambition to create positive impact in the Belgian economy and to tackle the challenges our society faces. To support that ambition and further accelerate its growth trajectory, ING has decided to extend its Executive Committee. In addition, selected changes will take place within the current Executive Committee. These changes will be effective from 1 April 2025.

Cédric Lebegge, current Chief Operations Officer, becomes head of Private Individuals. He succeeds Sali Salieski who was appointed global head of Private Individuals of ING Group. Cédric will remain COO until a replacement is announced and will remain part of the Executive Committee.

Jan Van Sande, current head of Private Banking and Wealth management, becomes a new member of the Executive Committee. Jan’s appointment shows the banks’ commitment to further expand its investment division and assume a more prominent role in Private Banking.

Saskia Bauters, current head of Business Banking Sales, becomes a new member of the Executive Committee (subject to regulatory approval) as head of Business Banking. Saskia will succeed Peter Göbel, who will support the global Business Banking franchise until the end of 2025, after which Peter will pursue his career outside the bank.

Lucy Shenton, current head of Transformation Office and New banking Platform, becomes a new member of the Executive Committee. Lucy’s appointment will support ING’s ambition to accelerate its transformation journey and become a more efficient, customer-oriented bank.

As of 1 June: Stephanie De Bruyne, current CEO of itsme, will join ING Belgium as head of Wholesale Banking. Stephanie succeeds Ellen Aelvoet, who was appointed Global Sector Head Financial Institutions of ING Group. Based in Brussels, Ellen is globally responsible for the relationships with banks, asset managers, insurance companies and Financial Sponsor Groups.

Bios

Cédric Lebegge combines 15 years of professional experience in strategy consulting and 11 years in line/executive management in banking. His expertise covers strategy, transformation, digital and team leadership. Cédric started his career at Bain & Company in 1998. He was a Partner in the Financial Services practice, covering retail banking & insurance. He managed transformation assignments in Western & Central Europe as well as North & South America. Between 2013 and 2021, Cédric held several senior positions at KBL European Private Bankers (renamed Quintet Private Bank in 2020). In 2018, he joined the Executive Committee of InsingerGilissen Bankiers, the subsidiary of Quintet in the Netherlands, as COO. In 2021, Cédric was appointed COO Affluent & Group Head of Digital of Quintet Private Bank and was a member of Quintet Europe Management Committee.

Cédric joined ING Belgium as COO in September 2021. On January 2024, he was also appointed Chief Data Officer for ING Group. Cédric holds a MA in Business Engineering from the Solvay Business School (Université Libre de Bruxelles) and an MBA degree from INSEAD.

Saskia Bauters started her career at ING Belgium as management trainee in 2001 with a first role as relationship manager within Business Banking. Between 2010 and 2022, she held several senior management positions such as Business Center Director in Brussels, head of Public and Social Profit Belgium and Regional Director Business Banking Antwerp-Leuven-Limburg. From 2022 till now, she was heading Business Banking Sales for Belgium defining and implementing its commercial strategy. She holds a master's degree in economics from the University of Ghent.

Jan Van Sande has extensive experience in retail banking and has developed an ambitious strategy to grow our Private Banking division in the coming years. Private Banking as part of the Executive Committee is an important step in our ambition to further expand investment activities and build this segment into a strong pillar within our bank. Jan joined ING Belgium in 2008 and has built a broad career within Retail, most recently as head of Retail Advice in Belgium, head of Savings and Investments in Spain, and as a member of the global retail and innovation team. Since September 2023, he has been head of Private Banking and Wealth Management in Belgium.

Lucy Shenton is the head of Transformation Office and New Banking Platform at ING Belgium. In this role, she supports the ING Belgium Executive Committee to strategically steer the bank and ensure realization of the Together for Progress strategy. Additionally, she drives the New Banking Platform program; a bold, high-scale effort to transform ING Belgium’s legacy technology environment. Prior to joining ING Belgium in February 2025, Lucy was a Partner at McKinsey & Company. She focused on helping financial institutions to develop their global strategies, transform their technology systems and build resilience. Lucy was also globally recognized as a leader in data security strategy for the banking sector.

Stephanie De Bruyne Stephanie De Bruyne has more than 15 years of experience in the financial services industry and brings expertise in P&L management, growth strategies, customer experience design, digital developments, pricing and product management, go-to-market orchestration and offline/online customer activation. She previously held senior roles in digital channels and product management at BNP Paribas Fortis and was an independent board member at Delen Private Bank. In June 2020, she became CEO of itsme. Under her management, itsme has become the international reference for simple and secure mobile identification and the protection of privacy in the digital world. She navigated the company through the Covid19-crisis, increased the user base from 1,8M to more than 7M users, significantly increased the app’s reliability (>99,95% availability) and made the company profitable for the first time.
